Choose your friends wisely

The bible warns us to choose our friends wisely. We become like what we see, and we become like who we spend time with. So, are you happy with the filters you have in place? When you think about the kinds of things you say, the things you see, and the people you're with, are they pointing you in a good direction, or should you find some new filters?

In Proverbs 4:23, it says, "Above all else, guard your heart." Anytime the Bible says "above all else" you need to pay attention to what comes next. It's so true, because what you fill your heart with: the friends you have, the habits you form determines what comes out of your mouth, what you do, and ultimately, who you become. We don't want to surround ourselves with anything or anyone who would lead us astray from our God given destiny.

In the moment of leaving behind people, possessions, and relationships we hold close and dear to us may seem like the most difficult thing to do. But when you put your trust in the one who knows best, the present pain will eventually turn into the greatest gain in your life.

Prayer: Dear God, I refuse to go back to my old ways, so I ask that you send me people and resources that will keep me motivated and excited for you. Change up my circle of friends so that spiritual growth and maturity can be contagious and that we get excited together and feed off one another’s positive energy. God, please elevate my thinking and everyone I’m connected to! In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
